Description:
Similar to T. atra but with massive apothecia (up to 5 mm diam) with a reduced thalline margin, and a thin thallus.

Several collections from southern South America and the Falkland Islands and one from Campbell Island.

Notes:
The description of Lecanora skottsbergii Darb. from South Georgia appears to fit this species, but the type of that species has an inspersed hymenium and is an earlier name for T. austrolitoralis.
