Thallus: whitish-cream to pale yellowish, smooth to areolate and deeply cracked, sorediate; soredia concolorous, coarsle granular, arising from cracks in the thallus.
Apothecia: scattered; black, convex and immarginate
Ascospores: simple (rarely 1-septate), 29-60 x 17-34 µm

Chemistry: Perlatolic acid.

Distribution & Ecology:
Widely distributed in the southern cool-temperate zone. Several collections from Chile, New Zealand (Auckland Islands), Australia and Tasmania. Epiphytic (rarely terricolous).
