This checklist has been compliled from two major sources; John Thomson's two books on American Arctic Lichens (Thomson 1984, 1997) - from which the Alaskan records have been extracted by Tassilo Feuerer (Checklists of Lichens - Alaska), and the inventory of S.E. Alaskan Lichens compiled by Linda Geiser, Karen Dillman, Chiska Derr & Mary Stensvold (Geisler et al. 1998). Additional records have been extracted from other publictions (see below).

The total number of taxa reported is over 1000.
